We didn't go on either the Summit Plummet or the Slusher Gusher. They just looked too darn scary. We're not up for a 60mph downhill slide just yet.

Disney, Day Three: Hi there! This is Cindy. Carl and I came to Disneyworld with Kevin and Aimee. Actually, you could say they came with us. Aimee and Kev went off to explore the area today and left us to go to Blizzard Beach, Disney's water park. This is how our day went...

Carl and I got there at 10:00 when it opened and stayed until about 1:30. Like all of Disneyworld, the attention to detail was impressive. It has an alpine theme, complete with floating iceburgs in the pre-teen pool, to snow-white water tubes and a chair lift up to the "steep and scary" slides. All in all, it's a great place for families. There's a children's area, the aforementioned pre-teen area, and a variety of family oriented slides. The entire park is encircled with a moving river which you can float down on water tubes and get off at whatever docks you choose. These provide access to different slides as well as places to lie back and sunbathe or just relax.

Another Disney trademark is the attention to safety. There are lifeguards everywhere you look, and on a slow day like the one we were there, it seemed as if there was one lifeguard to every 5 people!

Carl prefers the long twisty, fast, non-tube slides and there weren't any of those, so he felt a bit disappointed. There were a lot of other fun ones though, such as the toboggan slides and the tube slides which you can go down either alone or on a double or triple tube.

The day was a bit overcast, so there weren't too many people and the wait time was under five minutes per slide if you had to wait at all. That made it a lot more fun. I can't imagine waiting an hour to ride a 1-minute or 30 second slide in the heat and humidity of a Florida summer.

After a quick bite to eat (which can be brought in since coolers are allowed at the park, although straws are not for reasons we never discovered), we spent some time floating in the wave pool before hitting a few more of our favourite slides and heading out for the day. Our interest was exhausted, but we both agreed that if we had children, we could have filled the day there. It's definitely great for families.

Later that evening we joined up with Aim and Kev for a rousing 36-hole game of Mini Golf at Congo River Golf. To make things interesting, we placed a wager. The loser had to be up early for breakfast duty and also had to carry the gear for the whole day.

Let's see how we fared...
